I just visited 101 Bird Tales' blog and website. She is amazing and I'm going to use some of her craft ideas - her instructions are so clear and easy to follow. Her art is very unusual - she takes random things, finds some commonality and then puts them together in such a way that it seems they not only belong together but would be lost without the rest.
I am hopelessly "nonartistic" and can't even begin to imagine how someone takes a blank surface and brings it to "life". Michael Angelo said he simply chipped away the excess stone and revealed what was already in the marble. What's up with that? And how do random colors get together and take us to the ocean, a mountain stream, an Italian villa, into our own mind?
There are three very special people in my life who have great artistic talent - none of them are using that talent right now and it makes me sad. One lives in heaven; I often try to "channel" her, to no avail. Another will never again because she's lost in Alzheimer’s; the third is trying to make a living at what he is very good at doing.
I think there's something magical about a true artist. It's a shame that some artist's work is never appreciated as much until there is no more because they have died.
